In fact, Trump has been promising a health care plan\u2014and failing to deliver it\u2014since 2011. \u201cNobody knew health care could be so complicated!\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2017\/02\/27\/politics\/trump-health-care-complicated\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">famously explained<\/a>. Some people knew, and by \u201csome people,\u201d I mean everybody but Trump. <\/p>\n<p>No one knew trade could be so complicated, either, I suppose\u2014that trade war that is \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/business\/trump-tweets-trade-wars-are-good-and-easy-to-win-idUSKCN1GE1E9\/\" target=\"_blank\">good, and easy to win<\/a>\u201d is not working out as planned. Or the deficit\u2014witness the fiasco DOGE turned out to be. Or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usinflationcalculator.com\/inflation\/consumer-price-index-and-annual-percent-changes-from-1913-to-2008\/\" target=\"_blank\">bringing down prices<\/a>. Crime, immigration, entitlements\u2014all too complicated for this guy. <\/p>\n<p>And then there\u2019s Ukraine. <\/p>\n<p>Back when Trump was just a Page Six grotesque and social climber, <em>Spy<\/em> magazine famously described him as a \u201cshort-fingered vulgarian.\u201d It turns out that his fingers aren\u2019t the problem, but his short little attention span\u2014not his grip, but his grip on the issues and, from time to time, on <em>reality<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>Trump has had enough of the Russia-Ukraine war. And so he says that the U.S. role will now be to sell weapons to NATO \u201cto do what they want with them.\u201d He <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/115255130298104593\" target=\"_blank\">added<\/a>: \u201cGood luck to all!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump being Trump, he is all over the map (the map upon which I suspect he could not identify Ukraine with one of those short fingers). Not long ago, he was sure that Ukraine couldn\u2019t win\u2014he also claimed that Ukraine had started the war\u2014and that the Ukrainians needed to get to a negotiated settlement as soon as possible. Now he says he thinks the Ukrainians may be able to take back all of the territory occupied (and annexed in some cases) by Russia, a proposition that is, unhappily, at least as implausible as any other dumb thing that has come out of Trump\u2019s mouth. The indictment claims Comey lied to the Senate about authorizing a Wall Street Journal leak. But an Inspector General report actually found no evidence that he lied. Instead, the report indicated that it was former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe who authorized the leak, then repeatedly misled both Comey and investigators about it. McCabe even later publicly admitted that he had failed to correct Comey\u2019s mistaken belief about the leak.<\/p>\n<p>Because Comey\u2019s testimony about the leak relied on McCabe\u2019s false assurances, the perjury and obstruction case against Comey is extremely weak sauce.<\/p>\n<p>Both the Kimmel and Comey matters demonstrate an important point. Trump isn\u2019t interested in what <em>actually happened<\/em> or what either man <em>actually said<\/em>. Truth is irrelevant to this man. Cruz was committed to his false beliefs, no matter what Comey said in response.<\/p>\n<p>But under questioning by a skilled attorney \u2014 and Fitz has questioned far bigger blowhards than Ted Cruz, if you can believe it \u2014 such testimony would force Cruz to either double down on his lies, or to confess he was the one lying all those years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Right now, there\u2019s not a shred of evidence that Comey lied in his statement.<\/p>\n<p>There is, however, abundant evidence that Kash lied under oath and that Cruz lied in the same way he lies all the time.
