Along with it went 150 full time jobs, 400 construction jobs, and a major boost to our local economy.<\/p>\n<p>The Labor Tribune <a href=\"https:\/\/labortribune.com\/north-st-louis-battery-factory-dead-after-trump-administration-cuts-funding\/\" target=\"_blank\">has the story<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIsraeli manufacturer ICL Group has canceled the $570 million battery component plant it planned to build along the city\u2019s industrial north riverfront after the Trump administration pulled a $200 million grant for the project.<\/p>\n<p>The new plant had been expected to create about 150 new full-time jobs and some 400 union construction jobs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was going to be built under one of our all-union Project Labor Agreements (PLA),\u201d said John Stiffler, executive secretary-treasurer of the St. Louis Building &#038; Construction Trades Council. \u201cWe negotiated for about six months to get that done all union, and now, because Mr. Trump canceled the grant, that\u2019s not going to happen. It\u2019s a shame.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always say elections have consequences,\u201d Stiffler said. \u201cUnfortunately for us, the wrong person is in the White House, and we lost the project.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The company behind this, ICL Group, made the reason clear; the Trump administration pulled a $200 million grant, and Missouri got left behind.
