Fast Company: ‘A willingness to lie’: Why the EPA’s latest Trump-era change is especially concerning
Human activity is driving climate change; that’s a fact that more than 99.9% of scientific papers agree on.
But the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has quietly removed that information from a web page explaining climate change’s causes.
It’s yet another move by the Trump administration that downplays climate science. Trump has previously called climate change a “hoax,” repealed numerous climate laws, and has bolstered the use of fossil fuels, the burning of which are the main cause of rising heat-trapping greenhouse gas emissions.

Telegraph: Trump ‘to persuade four countries to leave EU’, leaked document shows
The Trump administration intends to pull four countries away from the European Union (EU), according to a leaked copy of the US National Security Strategy (NSS).
The official NSS, released on Dec 4, warned that Europe faced “civilisational erasure” if it did not cut migration and would be “unrecognisable in 20 years or less” if present trends continued.
But a longer version of the strategy, which was reportedly circulated before the White House unclassified the 29-page document, is more explicit about how the US can “Make Europe Great Again”.

Heather Cox Richardson: Letters from an American – December 11, 2025
On Tuesday, President Donald J. Trump kicked off his nationwide tour to assure Americans that the Republicans are focused on bringing down costs. Voters turned to Trump in 2024 in large part because he promised that his understanding of the economy would enable him to bring down the prices that had risen in the global inflation spike after the Covid-19 pandemic shut down the world economy.
Within weeks of the election, Trump began to back off on that promise, telling a reporter for Time magazine in December 2024 that “it’s very hard” to bring down prices. Then in April he launched a tariff war that began to raise prices, while his on-again, off-again tariff rates discouraged businesses from investing while they waited to see what made economic sense.

Aaron Parnas: Kristi Noem Accused of Lying Under Oath and Trump Officials Fail to Answer Basic Questions in Explosive Hearing
…
One of the most heated exchanges came when Rep. Seth Magaziner pressed Secretary Noem on whether DHS had deported any U.S. military veterans.Magaziner: “How many U.S. military veterans have you deported?”
Noem: “Sir, we have not deported U.S. citizens or military veterans.”Magaziner then introduced, via Zoom, an Army combat veteran who had been wounded twice while serving in Panama in 1989. According to Magaziner, the veteran — identified as Mr. Park — was deported earlier this year to South Korea.
Magaziner: “Earlier this year, you deported him to Korea. Can you tell Mr. Park why you deported him?”
DHS officials did not offer additional explanation during the session.

Joyce Vance: Judge Breyer on Trump’s Continued Federalization of the California National Guard
Federal District Judge Charles Breyer issued a ruling in the California National Guard case earlier this week. He held that Trump may not federalize and deploy the Guard in California, nor send California troops to other states. Please note that while tonight’s column is a long one, I hope you’ll think it’s worth it. If you’ve lost the plot line in the California National Guard case, this should help.
