Robert Sherman @ NewsNation: War in Iran marks one month as Yemeni Houthis join the fighting
The U.S. and Iran have each submitted cease-fire terms as Saturday marks the start of the fifth week of fighting in the war in Iran.
Overnight, at least 15 U.S. service members were wounded following an Iranian missile attack at a base in Saudi Arabia, according to the Associated Press.
President Donald Trump has announced he is extending his self-imposed deadline for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran publicly rejected the U.S.’s 15-point peace plan, sending a counterproposal that calls for Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, an end to hostilities and a stop to attacks on government officials.
…
Meanwhile, missile attacks from Yemen are now targeting Israel.

Brad Reed @ RawStory: Trump tries to shrug off No Kings protests — but is hit by astounding turnout
While turnout numbers have not yet been confirmed, organizers expected more than 9 million people to attend the events nationwide.
This is the third large-scale No Kings protest. Organizers said the first two events held in June and October of last year drew roughly 5 million and 7 million people, respectively.
Millions of American across all 50 states on Saturday rallied against President Donald Trump and his authoritarian agenda during nationwide No Kings protests.
The flagship No Kings rally in Minneapolis, which organizers Indivisible estimated drew over 200,000 demonstrators, featured speeches from Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and US Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and actress Jane Fonda, as well as a special performance from rock icon Bruce Springsteen, who performed “Streets of Minneapolis,” a song he wrote in tribute of slain protesters Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
The rally in Minneapolis was one of more than 3,300 No Kings events across the US, and aerial video footage showed massive crowds gathered for demonstrations in cities including Washington, DC, New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, and San Diego.
In San Francisco, thousands of anti-Trump activists gathered on a local beach to form a human sign that read, “Trump must go now! No ICE, no wars, no lies, no kings.”

Heather Cox Richardson: Letters from an American – March 28, 2026
Almost exactly a year ago, on March 27, 2025, President Donald J. Trump issued an executive order titled “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History.” The order asserted that “[o]ver the past decade, Americans have witnessed a concerted and widespread effort to rewrite our Nation’s history, replacing objective facts with a distorted narrative driven by ideology rather than truth.”
…Embracing the idea that there is a perfect past currently being destroyed, Trump echoes twentieth-century fascists who promised to return their country to divinely inspired rules that, if ignored, would create disaster.

Hans Christensen: Russia’s Ukraine War Moves Closer to Nordics/Balticum
Ukraine has stopped 40% of Russia’s oil exports this week by bombing and seriously damaging infrastructure in Western Russia, more than 800 km from the Ukrainian border. At that distance, the precision of the hits is impressive, with photo reports showing oil tanks and equipment are on fire, days after the attacks. And the attacks continue, showing that Ukraine has enough capacity for long range attacks in an extended period. Also, Russia is not able to prevent the attacks, leaving critical resources—export oil to finance the war—completely exposed to Ukrainian destruction.
